Worth Noting:

  • I’m Leon Joseph Omondi, born of Siaya County in Kenya. My poetry was brought up by passion and the love of art in words. So It forced me to learn from my friend and my teacher Mr Emmanuel Cheret (Prince Diaries).
  • I’m planning to publish my poetry book *_TWENTY SIX LETTERS_* and more to come. I’m also looking forward to collaborate with fellow poets and put up something great in future.
  • Always knock on that door you see and seek the opportunity. Follow your passion and interest…yes all is possible. And above all don’t forget he who gives light and life. Always be thankful to him.

Kenyans are known for their love and prowess in poetry. It’s commendable how they put pen to paper. Also, many of their poetry groups can be found on social media. This proves the power poetry has in connecting people. In addition, poets are energized when they let their words flow on paper tackling whatever comes to their minds. In that regard, this is what Leon Joseph Omondi is doing. He is in the same boat with the rest of the poets in the world sharing his message through well constructed verses and bars. It’s a blessing to be able to come up with words which hold meaning. Additionally, it is empowering to know this craft is the legacy you will leave behind as a footprint of your existence. Personally I came to know of Leon Joseph Omondi through Ngwai James poetry group, another great Kenyan contemporary poet. Interestingly, we took to each other and the next moment we were collaborating in an anthology. Given my intimate relationship with Leon Joseph Omondi, l know him to be a poet on the right path to success. Below is what he had to say in greater detail.

Please tell us your name and how your journey started in poetry?

I’m Leon Joseph Omondi, born of Siaya County in Kenya.

My poetry was brought up by passion and the love of art in words. So It forced me to learn from my friend and my teacher Mr Emmanuel Cheret (Prince Diaries).

Have you won any major accolades for yourself in poetry? Are you a published poet?

So far l haven’t won any major accolades. All I have won are certificates from different poetry challenges and participating in groups. But still I’m not a published poet.

Who is your inspiration?

I don’t want to take it far. I’ll just bring it home. Mr Kennedy Ochieng (Poet Wanda) and Sir Emmanuel Cheret, they are my great inspiration.

Where do you see yourself in the near future?

I’m planning to publish my poetry book *_TWENTY SIX  LETTERS_* and more to come. I’m also looking forward to collaborate with fellow poets and put up something great in future.

What problems have you faced as a poet?

The main challenge in the poetry industry is plagiarism, it’s really affecting the upcoming poets and demotivates them badly. I personally have been a victim. I know how it pinches.

*_Home To You♥️_*

With a flower,

With a smile,

I’m leaving the city,

To see you my Candy.

Your hugs,

Mom your smile,

Are all I long for,

And my heart will cool.

My butterfly,

My house perfume,

You my best love,

Forever be my song.

Obsesse my mind,

Witch my heart,

Own me all alone,

And always take me with you.

At the door wait,

My coat take,

Give me your taste,

As you welcome me home.
