There is significant deterioration of food insecurity currently as compared to other years. The worsening caused by food insecurity is attributed to multiple shocks, including dry spells from three consecutive poor seasonal rainfall performances below average, crop and livestock production, localized resource- based conflict and the ripple effects of COVID-19 pandemic which resulted in increasing staple food prices across the country.
The Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid lands region is triggered by several cumulative factors.
Example low amount of rainfall and this affects rangeland, also sparked resource- based conflicts and high food prices as a result of the war in Ukraine and low in country production.
This has wiped livestock and crops deepening hunger crisis in Northern Kenya .The government should help to desalinate water, introduce crop engineering in remote areas and solar pumps.
Kenyans are expected to harvest water, practice drip irrigation and to plant more trees.
