Wiper leader frames longevity as experience as Ruto attacks Tseikuru record eleven months to August vote

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has hit back at President William Ruto over jibes about his 40 years in politics.
Kalonzo responded yesterday in Bondo, Siaya County, where he defended his record and his friendship with the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The exchange captures the personal turn Kenya’s succession politics is taking eleven months to the August 10, 2027 general election.
“It’s true I have been around for 40 years as Ruto claims, but I have not killed anyone’s child, I have defended the rule of law together with many leaders,” Kalonzo said.
Ruto has mocked Kalonzo over the Tseikuru road, arguing four decades produced little development until his administration intervened.
Kalonzo defended his alliance with Odinga, saying he believed in constitutionalism, and said he will not attend Raila’s first anniversary alongside government leaders he now accuses of mistreating Odinga and rigging the 2022 poll.
“I will not share a platform with people who mistreated Raila when he was alive. I will come back on my own,” he said.
With the opposition yet to settle on a flagbearer, Ruto is framing longevity as failure while Kalonzo frames it as experience and fidelity to law in a volatile pre-election season.
