Unemployment is the major problem in Kenya, A large population of skilled personnel’s are jobless. This has been attributed to an increase in number of educated people at the expense of the available job opportunities.
The Kenyan education system should equip learner’s with the knowledge of Independence and self-reliability so as to reduce unemployment rates and also boost the country’s economic status. The youth should be encouraged to embrace the new technological opportunities and explore their creativity in the digital era for beneficial purposes.
Unemployment is the most critical issue in the current society but youth can play a significant role with incorporating the knowledge and skills into the new technology. Technology is so much advanced and offers a wide variety of opportunities online such as digital marketing, web design and being social media influencers.
The skills acquired on daily basis and a little creativity helps to generate income and thus assists one to cater for their needs. Use of blogs and social media platforms such as YouTube accounts to create content for educative or entertainment purposes. Consumers are readily available and from daily subscriptions, are able to earn each time one is able to keep savings and pay for their bills by themselves. It also keeps one engaged thus preventing idleness that may lead to immoral behaviors.
Youth should be encouraged to venture into online content creation and stop waiting for jobs that are not available. They should make use of the available resources. Self-employment jobs are so much paying as compared to the white collar job whose salary are on a monthly basis and undergoes a lot of deductions leaving one with so little to cater for their expenses.
