A section of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirants who lost in the just concluded party nominations yesterday formed a lobby group whose sole aim is to campaign for Dr William Ruto to be the next Head of State.
The lobby dubbed, Kenya Kwanza Nyeri chapter will be headed by businessman and Nyeri Town Constituency politician Wanyaga Gathaka.
Briefing journalists after their first meeting at Senior Chief Wambugu Palace near Nyeri town, the former aspirants vowed to ensure Dr Ruto became the fifth President.
It comprises of all former aspirants who contested either parliamentary or wardΒ Β seats in the county under UDA ticket and have remained in the party.
Wanyaga said the lobby will among other things,Β woe Nyeri county voters to support Dr William Ruto during the August 9 General Election.
“I got in touch with all those who lost and decided to remain in the party. We have met with some of them and have planned another meeting next week to chart the way forward,” Gathaka said.
He said they shall transverse the whole county campaigning for the party presidential candidate who is the current Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
“We want to hit the ground as soon as is practically possible.Β We want to concentrate on Presidential campaign as those who won concentrate on securing their respective seats,” he disclosed.
Another member Esther Ngima who contested the Nyeri Town Constituency parliamentary seat noted that they were doing the campaign out of goodwill and their resolve was to ensure Dr Ruto was the next tenant at the House on the Hill.
