The National burial committee that is organising the State burial of President Mwai Kibaki is planning to host 15,000 mourners in Othaya.
The mourners are expected to attend the requim Mass at Othaya Approved School grounds, about two kilometres from Kibaki’s Kanyange home where his remains will be interred.
Yesterday, senior government officials from Nairobi visited Othaya to see the on-going preparations.
Led by Mr Kennedy Kihara, the Principal Administrative Secretary, Office of the President, the delegation visited the venue, Kibaki’s home and at least three sites which have been reserved for vehicles and helicopters parking.
Addressing journalists in Othaya town,Β Kihara said the body of the third president will be ferried through the road from Lee Funeral Home to Othaya.
He said though the mass service, will host thousands of mourners, only a few of them will be allowed at the late president’s home.
