Nyeri County governor Mutahi Kahiga delivering his message of condolence.
Nyeri, Kenya and the African continent has indeed lost a gallant son and the best President that our nation has ever had. His easy demeanor and humor charmed and illuminated our political landscape for many decades. His legacy is firmly settled and forever cemented in our hearts.
His Excellency Emilio Mwai Kibaki captured the imagination of our country, restored hope and rebuilt an economy that was on its knees. He was an economist per excellence having curved a niche in the management of public finance and governance. He gifted the people of Kenya a working economy and halted our full dependence on external entities.
He earned the respect and admiration of both friend and foe. He was the quintessential gentleman of Kenyan politics.ย He was a giant who navigated the murky waters of politics with so much ease and charm. He practically had no competition in Nyeri having been the longest serving MP in Othaya Nyeri County.
Due to his exemplary leadership, diligence and sharp mind he became an icon and role model for many of us who were to later venture into politics. He gave us the blue print of success in the management of public affairs.
As a son of Nyeri he will be dearly missed. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and the entire nation. It is our desire to give this Son of Nyeri a befitting send off and therefore, my Government will work very closely with the National Government and the family, towards realisation of this.
I therefore appoint a committee to liase with National Government to be chaired by, the County Secretary Mr. Benjamin Gachichio a long serving Provincial Administrator, Waziri Muthui Kariuki Kibaki’s own Government Spokesman to be assisted by, Waziri Margaret Macharia, Waziri Ndirangu Gachunia, The County Attorney Kimani Rucuiya and Waziri Robert Thuo to assist in the send offย preparations.
H.E. Mutahi Kahiga
GOVERNOR โ NYERI COUNTY
