The late Hon Mwai Kibaki is remembered for the success of Kenya’s government in terms of development of Public Relations firms in his government, Kibaki did not gag the media press. He allowed people to brief the media about tending issues in government and also the country. He trusted the Journalist and also the Public Relations officers in briefing the media for the public consumption.
In his government,he vowed to fight the three enemies of development that is, ”poverty, ignorance and disease” when he came into power.
The socio-economic status of Kenya was at low time low and he promised to develop. A quote by Alfred Ng’ang’a argued that ”Kibaki did not muzzle any information going to the media house” and therefore the communication industry has grown rapidly during his government.
The late Mwai Kibaki during his campaigns for his successor who was Uhuru Kenyatta, he used Public Relations officers to campaign for Uhuru presidency.
This increased the demand for Public Relations in Kenya and up to date it is still valued by government officials who hire Public Relations officers in their ministries.
