I am a Clinical dietitian and a Gut Health Practitioner with 23 years of experience. I work in Critical care and also am an expert in tube feeding, Neuro nutrition and swallowing difficulties known as dysphagia.

How has your passion influenced you?

The field of nutrition like any medical or paramedical field evolves daily and we need to keep updating continuously to be a capable qualified dietitian. It has made me a more efficient person and also to be a better communicator. If we speak the language of the client they open up to you more and trust you, so it is great if we speak and communicate in many languages and understand the food habits of each culture and practices and respect them

Why you wanted to become a Nutritionist?

To be honest I wanted to avoid math and chose Home science in my higher secondary school and topped it in my boards. This helped to develop an interest and my subsequent hospital jobs further reiterated that I have chosen the right field and still love helping patients in clinical conditions with their nutrition requirements and also clients with life style conditions like PCOD, Gut health and obesity

What motivates you?

That many life style conditions can be healed through food and a fascination of Indian food science and the history of therapeutic diets and how it was a part of daily life and culture.

Many of my patient’s testimonials and their healing journey have helped me and my team to work harder to device new programs in Therapeutic nutrition.

Who is your Inspiration?

My mother was a great role model who faced life struggles with patience and resilience. In contemporary society any women who juggles her work and family schedules and rises to the top of her profession with dignity and hard work.

Achievements till date:

I have written books on Nutrition published by Reed Elsevier which is a textbook for Nurses in India. I have co-authored 3 books and have also written a book on various aspects of Nutrition. I have also published a Neuro Nutrition booklet

Challenges:

Nutrition and dietetics is a vast field and more so in India as every state you can find different regional cuisines and also different languages and food habits. It is very interesting to see the heightened interest in nutrition, immunity and Health after the pandemic hit the world.
