Lord, its high time we talked
You and I totally unhindered
On issues I’d like cleared
Rather, amicably explained
I’m not being disrespectful
But it’s been quite painful
When my being faithful
Always leaves me tearful
I’m not questioning your powers
But seeking a new awareness
Of the mathematical intricacies
Where piety bears hardships
I’m not being greedy
For things not my destiny
But wondering loudly
Why my efforts bear vanity
I do not question your wisdom
But don’t seem to fathom
Why thieves and liars seem
To fatten while I slim
I’m not condemning creation
For only you have reason
Why I seem to merely glean
The echelons of being doyen
Lord, please make me know
Why a rapist walks free
And killer struts along streets
While the pious sleep hungry
It’s with uttermost humility
That I sit, wait patiently
So you address my enquiry
And unburden my soul eventually.
