Spare the rod, spoil the child
As fragile as it was, you saw a world in this baby
She was promising, she had dimples and pimples
She had friendly smile, she was warm year long
So you took the rough road, with thick stones and thin thorns
You warmed in cold, and drank sweat in hot
You chose this girl, she was the apple of your eye.
The pretty you fought for now has grown
With millions heads, she keep your names
Mau mau still the secret tone, the light behind their minds
Now the tree that was planted
On the year sixty three of nineteen
It’s fruits were black for the land
White for the soul
Red for the rivals
And green for the posterity.
Now the children are all in smiles
We are all in smiles for,
I made world Marathon record
I forgave my brother, planted trees
I stood up the truth, I died fighting corruption
I made sparkling speech in London, I returned from exile
I hugged my mum, and wished papa was here
I pray to Were, I sing, I enjoy my art
I made wonders, safe trading, secure money
I owe you my shujaa, for putting down the phone
And giving an ear to a stranger
For it all turns out, strangers makes part of us
Part of our lives
Part of our heroes.
