Work activity: editor, chief editor at the State Committee of the Republic of Television and Radio Broadcasting (1956-1971), Uzbekistan Department head at KPMK (1971-1974), director of Uzbekfilm film studio (1971-1981), first deputy minister of cultural affairs of Uzbekistan (1982-1986), minister (1987-1989), Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan Chairman (1985-1989), Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1989-1991). The stories of the series “Bulgarian Songs” (1972) are also distinguished by their conciseness, richness of drama, poetic and rhythmic features.
Olmas Umarbekov’s first works were focused on dramaturgy, and in the 1970s he was engaged in writing plays called “Waters” in theaters. In the last years of his life, he wrote “Slander” (1987), “Elder” (1991), ” The drama “Die for Yourself” (1992, unfinished) is also worth noting.
