Olmas Umarbekov, a writer who left an indelible mark on the tongue of every young reader, was born on January 25, 1934 in Tashkent. He studied at the 40th school founded by Abdullah Avloni. He was admitted to the Faculty of Philology of the State University of Central Asia (now UzMU) (graduated in 1956). Work activity: editor, chief editor at the State Committee of the Republic of Television and Radio Broadcasting (1956-1971), Uzbekistan Department head at KPMK (1971-1974), director of Uzbekfilm film studio (1971-1981), first deputy minister of cultural affairs of Uzbekistan (1982-1986), minister (1987-1989), Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan Chairman (1985-1989), Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1989-1991). His first book is “Stories” (1958). “I will wait for your letter”, “Heart words” (1960); “Grandfather” (1961), “Stars”, “Don’t you believe me?” (1962), “Eternal Life” (1964), “Charos” (1966), “The Bridge” (1968), “Bulgarian Songs”, “Golden Leaves” (1972), “Doomsday Debt” he paid special attention to describing the spiritual and moral beauty, showing the duty and responsibility of man before society and nature. The stories of the series “Bulgarian Songs” (1972) are also distinguished by their conciseness, richness of drama, poetic and rhythmic features.

Olmas Umarbekov’s first works were focused on dramaturgy, and in the 1970s he was engaged in writing plays called “Waters” in theaters. In the last years of his life, he wrote “Slander” (1987), “Elder” (1991), ” The drama “Die for Yourself” (1992, unfinished) is also worth noting.

The works created by Olmas Umarbekov are among the works that serve as an example for every young generation.In particular, the work <<It is difficult to be person>> is intended to start young people on the right path, to protect their freedom, to create the necessary conditions for studying no matter what the opportunity is, and to have a passion for studying. , is a work with universal feelings such as finding one’s own way of life and humanitarianism. Unfortunately, the writer died on November 10, 1994 at the age of 60 due to a serious illness. But as long as his works are there, the writer will live forever in the heart of every reader.
