Garissa County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabudzo has vowed to reign in criminals terrorizing Garissa town residents. He said security personnel would conduct massive crackdowns on these armed criminals in order to restore order and peace in the area. He regretted the increased incidents of robbery with violence, thefts and knife attacks. Speaking during Mashujaa day celebrations at Kunaso grounds in Garissa town, the CC directed national government administrative officers right from assistant chiefs to the deputy county commissioners to collaborate with other security agencies in order to apprehend and charge all those found culpable in a court of law. In the recent past, so bad is the situation that a day hardly ends without a reported case of a person being attacked, robbed of his/ her valuables, or knifed after which they are left dead, or nursing serious injuries.
Siaya County Commissioner Norbert Komora has taken a swipe at local public servants for skipping national events in the area. Addressing this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga stadium in Siaya town, Komora said national day celebrations must be observed by all including civil servants. The CC, who was flanked by his deputy, Robert Ng’etich and county police commander, Samuel Kobina said those who feel that they cannot join the public during the celebrations have an option of resigning to pave way for those who will respect the government and ordered departmental heads who skipped the day’s event to submit a written explanation to his office and tasked a senior administrative officer in his office to ensure the affected national government departments respond accordingly.
