Worth Noting:

  • “Mheshimiwa, it is you that the people of Kahumbu woke up before dawn to elect as their MP. Many times you’ve sent your office representatives here to man NG-CDF projects like road construction, very good. But why not at least inform my office first, at least?
  • The people of Kahumbu want to know this: When I call you on official matters and you refer me to the constituency manager, who’s often not available to handle our petitions, like reinstating stolen KPLC transformers, what do you mean?” Chefman poised.
  • The Kigumo ACC1, being the event’s MC tried to quell the MCA but he was adamant not to drop the Mic until he had driven the hot nail to the heart.

“We’re not only here to celebrate the Mashujaa who fought for our independence but also to commend the heros of today and nurture the mashujaa of tomorrow,” Kigumo DCC, Mr. Buxton Mayabi.

It was an interesting Mashujaa Day, kicking off with a fiery atmosphere, accentuated by a hot afternoon and sunset in utter bewilderment.

Hundreds of Kigumo Sub county residents flocked Mugumoini Primary School playground for Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The afternoon atmosphere was all attentive silence patented only by ululations and applauses by the locals as the DCC read and explained the president’s Mashujaa Day speech.

But that was after the host area MCA; Chefman Njoroge obstreperously confronted the Kigumo MP Joseph Kamau Munyoro on several issues.

Burning with the bravadoes of the Mashujaa Day spirit, the Kahumbu Ward MCA outrightly condemned the Kigumo MP’s office of disrespecting his office.

The people of Kahumbu want to know this: When I call you on official matters and you refer me to the constituency manager, who’s often not available to handle our petitions, like reinstating stolen KPLC transformers, what do you mean?” Chefman poised.

The Kigumo ACC1, being the event’s MC tried to quell the MCA but he was adamant not to drop the Mic until he had driven the hot nail to the heart.

It was here that a fraction of the entranced, excited local audience voiced their soft disgruntlement. Minutes later, the MCA requested the MP to establish a closer connection to Wanjikû and treat his office with due respect then took his seat.

Kigumo MP was the next speaker. “We cannot bring any developments when our leaders engaging in public fights. But I assure you that I will play my role actively and positively in developing Kahumbu Ward because you elected me.”

On reaching for further information, it was discerned that the MCA was infuriated because the MP has supposedly taken credit for the construction of Ndonga-Kianjugu road, yet the MCA had lobbied for the road from KERRA. The MP’s office had gone ahead to supervise the construction without informing the MCA.

“The MP should note that one person working in his office shall affect his legacy and affect his relationship with Wanjikû. Unless you, Mheshimiwa take that seriously, things shall be sour for you. Some things must be said for progress to happen!” Chefman gave an ultimatum.

The office of the MP has been going rough with Kigumo MCAs over the road construction projects, with the Kahumbu issue bringing this to crescendo during Mashujaa Day. A spirited tug previously happened between the office of the MP and Kinyona MCA Liz Mbugua over Gatumbi-Ihiga road. Liz had lobbied for the road only for the MP’s team to show up with cameras as KERRA workers worked and post on social media platforms giving all credit to the MP.

Reached for further comments, the office of the Kigumo DCC, through Kigumo ACC1 Mr. Benard Kimani Mbogo had this to state:

“The best leadership upholds respect for each other. I urge all offices concerned to work unanimously. We look forward to more dignified cooperations in the future.”

Murang’a Water CEC Mary Muthoni read the governor’s speech. She assured locals that the county government is setting up a hotline water project to distribute water in Kahumbu areas, amongst other projects.

Several locals complemented each other, stating the need for both the MCA and the MP mend any fences and work qualitatively for them. One of them sought anonymity and retorted, “Ndume mbili wakipigana, nyasi ndio huumia. Sisi ndio nyasi. We want development. Viongozi wapeane heshima zao tupate maendeleo.”

The sun set after the area MCA gave out 35 beehives to several wananchi; had an expert teach wananchi on bee farming, promised to support Kahumbu talent by sponsoring several artists to record their music in studio. Hash avocado seedlings, lobbied from Murang’a County Rep, Betty Maina’s office were distributed too. The MCA also gave books and sports uniform to several schools in Kahumbu Ward.
