Inspired by the historical theologian Saint Augustine’s quote, “To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek Him the greatest adventure; to find Him, the greatest human achievement,” gospel singer Kevin Ager reflects on his path to salvation. He connects his experience to the Apostle Paul’s words in Hebrews 4:12:
Though Kevin grew up attending church and was a God-fearing young man, it wasn’t until 2012 that he made a personal decision to accept Christ. He relates this transformative moment to Hebrews 4:12:
“For a long time, I had been going to church and was God-fearing. Over time, I received new revelations about salvation. Reflecting on my walk with Christ, I realized the need for a personal commitment, which I made in 2012,” he said.
Ager observes that many churchgoers lack a deep understanding of the word of God and issues of salvation. He prays that God will open their eyes so they can walk a worthy path in faith.
Now a devoted servant of God, Kevin discovered his talent for singing and joined the church choir in 2012 to nurture it.
He began composing songs during his fourth year of secondary school but faced financial challenges that nearly caused him to abandon his musical ambitions.
“I started composing songs during my fourth year of secondary school, but due to a lack of funds, I nearly gave up,” he said.
As the fourth-born of seven siblings, Kevin has learned patience and dedication. It took over a decade for him to officially record his first album. April 2024 marked a significant milestone in his music career when he entered the studio to record his debut album, “Utawala,” featuring six tracks.
Kevin is now working on his second album, which began earlier this year.
“Financial constraints are the biggest challenge I face. Recording an album requires a significant investment, and music does not pay instantly. Patience is essential while waiting for a return on investment, which often necessitates additional sources of income,” he said.
Looking ahead, Kevin hopes to collaborate with other gospel artists to spread the gospel, a calling he is deeply passionate about.
