Leaders from different walks of life continued to mourn the demise of Kenya’s third Head of State.
In Kirinyaga County, Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri described Kibaki as a leader of great repute who will be always be remembered for economically liberating the country.
“I join all Kenyans and the world in mourning the passing away of an illustrious leader , the third President of our beloved Nation,His Excellency Mwai Kibaki. He was a man of great repute who participated in the struggle to liberate this country; A politician who stood firm in his beliefs and one who laid the foundation for the immense progress Kenyans are enjoying in the economy today,” Ndambiri said in a statement.
The Deputy Governor who is now eying the county gubernatorial seat added, “Indeed, the country has lost a great Statesman, a pioneering industrialist and an outstanding economist in the history of our Nation. On behalf of my family and Kirinyaga people , I wish to say may love of God comfort all of us during this sorrowful moment. May his soul rest in eternal peace”.
At the same time, The New Democrats (TND) party National chairman Dr Thuo Mathenge termed the late Kibaki as mentor who had over the years will be emulated.
“On behalf of TND where Jimmy Kibaki is our Deputy Party leader, I would like to send our sincere condolences to the former president’s family. The former president was our mentor and has done so much in guiding us politically,” Dr Mathenge who through the party is seeking to be the fifth county governor observed.
Other leaders who sent their messages included Nyeri gubernatorial aspirant on Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) party Peter Maina Munyiri and Kieni constituency parliamentary aspirant on Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) ticket Stephen Kiriungi Muchire.
Others were TND parliamentary aspirants for Othaya and Tetu constituencies, Lawrence Kagwi and Alex Gathii Gitonga.
They said Kenyans will live to remember the late Kibaki fir his economic acumen.
