Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has said that he is ready to deputize ODM leader Raila Odinga should he pick him as his running mate.
According to Munya, Odinga’s running mate will come from the Jubilee party. Munya further signaled formation of joint party primaries under the Azimio La Umoja coalition
“President Uhuru and his counterpart Odinga united through the handshake in bid to end wrangles experienced after every election. Jubilee is not joining Odinga’s party but instead both Jubilee and ODM will be joining Azimio. We are partnering with ODM, we are going to form a coalition ahead of the elections and we will come up with mechanisms to share the ministries. Odinga who will be running for presidency must select a running mate from Jubilee party,” Munya added.
Hinting to eye the running mate position, Munya posed himself to be having the capacity to deputize Odinga ahead of the August polls.
“If I am selected for the running mate don’t you think everything will be fine? Let’s continue praying as we wait,” Munya told residents during a meeting with potato farmers on Friday at Kanu ground in Kibirichia, Meru County.
Munya thrashed on William Ruto’s Bottom Up economic model terming the Kenyan Deputy President as a tyrannical ruler who was mentored by the late president Daniel arap Moi.

Munya drummed up support for Azimio La Umoja saying that it was going to bring Kenyans together without discrimination or tribalism just like President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga did.
Munya was speaking in Kibirichia in Buuri Sub-County and Miciimikuru in Tigania during a meeting with farmers on Friday and Saturday consecutively.
Leaders who accompanied the Cabinet Secretary led by East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Mpuru Aburi and former Tigania West MP David Karithi backed Munya for the running mate position noting that his appointment would help raise political stake in the region.
Aburi who is the former Member of Parliament Tigania East said Munya’s track record in the ministry of Agriculture makes him the best fit candidate to deputize Odinga.
“Lot of great changes in Agriculture have been experienced during Munya’s time and if he is appointed the Vice President Meru resident will be very happy with it,” Mpuru said.
According to Karithi, Meru region will vote as a block by following Munya’s directive on the presidential candidate to back in August polls.
Various leaders across the Country including former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth are also eyeing the running mate position
Odinga who is keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August 2022 election is shopping for a running mate with his possible picks being individuals from Mt Kenya region.
