Political parties to upload integrity in these ongoing primaries

Party primaries are always conducted months before carrying out the real election exercise. Severally, parties are required to present one candidate for various elective positions from the grassroots to the national level. That is, ward level to the presidential post. Nominations are a good chance to get one candidate per level who can be the flag bearer on that particular ticket. This year’s nominations kicked off on 9th, April 2022.
Nominations in most cases foreshadow the real results, that’s when elections are done. We have experienced a series of mixed reactions and feelings from the ongoing process across the country. The lucky candidates got tickets directly for reasons known to the party leaders. However, some have been into hellholes since it’s been all tough and rough.
We have witnessed chaos and unnecessary behaviours in several polling stations. The chaos have been due to allegations of rigging. This is where rivals accuse each other of finding malicious ways of winning elections. Such is uncalled for at this time when we are trying to get best candidates for our nation. Rigging allegations have been associated with lack of integrity and fairness.
Unfairness and favourism is a factor that has been brought out in this continuing exercise. Several aspirants in different parties have had a high hand from the party leaders. Candidates have been favored on allegations of having paid or being loyal to the particular party leader. We need to exercise free and fair nominations in order to set the necessary pace in the coming elections.
Integrity should be upheld in relation to the need to have satisfying results on 9th August 2022. The electorates and aspirants need to be educated on why integrity is key. This is a virtue that as a nation we need to cultivate for our own goodness.
Several polling centers however have given shocking results. This is after political bigwigs have been thrown and shown dust in the nominations. Besides, the youths have also decided to make their voices heard and sure enough, they have managed to shake the trees well. Today’s actions prepare us for the future. We should all set a good and conducive pace in order to exhibit high level of results attainment
