Advice to give your child joining Form One
By: Ruth Kavata
After the release of form one placement, the students canβt wait to be admitted at their respective high schools. Parents should start preparing their children early in advance to avoid last minute rush. Early preparation means buying the items before the prices go high. Parents should ensure that they prepare their children with the items that are needed in the school.
While they are preparing their children physically for school, they should not forget to advice the children on how to behave well in school. This will help minimize cases of students burning schools, school drop outs or students committing suicide while in school.
The students should be told what to expect from studying far from their parents, since they have moved from primary school to high school. Teachers and other students should also be taught how to handle the new students and also help them get used to the environment they are exposed to.
The government should assist parents with more than one student who are joining high school together, since the burden is too huge fo them to bear alone. The government should also ensure that all candidates who sat for their examinations, are taken to high schools to avoid high numbers of illiteracy in the country.
They should also ensure there is free and fair placement of form one students. This will help the students interact with one another and help each other in school work. At the end of their high school life, the students will have improved and made a difference in examination results.
