A Road Safety Awareness Programme was conducted at Government Model High School, Tirur, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, India, on 25 September 2026 (Friday) for the students of Classes VI to VIII. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of following traffic rules and practising safe road habits.
The programme was presided over by the Headmistress, S. Malarkodi. All the teachers of the school actively participated and extended their valuable support to make the programme meaningful and successful. English Teacher Rajesh Kanna B. N. organised and coordinated the event effectively.
The students were introduced to essential road safety practices, including obeying traffic signals, using pedestrian crossings, walking safely on roads, wearing helmets while riding bicycles or two-wheelers, and using seat belts while travelling in vehicles. The importance of being alert and responsible road users was also emphasised.
As part of the programme, the students took a Road Safety Awareness Pledge and enthusiastically raised meaningful road safety slogans. A role play was also performed by the students to demonstrate common road situations and the importance of safe behaviour.
To encourage and appreciate the active participation of the students, candies were distributed at the end of the programme. The programme was highly interactive and successfully promoted a strong sense of road safety responsibility among the students.
