Speaker Muturi meets Kieni, Mathira and Nyeri Town constituencies as he seek support

Speaker of the National Assembly, Justin Muturi on Saturday intensified his voters’ consolidation mission by meeting various opinion leaders from Nyeri County.
The Speaker met with more than 3,000 opinion leaders from Kieni, Mathira and Nyeri Town constituencies at Chaka Township where he explained in detail his mission and vision for the country.
Muturi took time to elaborate why he felt he was the right candidate to take the leadership mantle from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said he had plans of adequately addressing various ills facing Kenyans and called on the voters to support his bid.
During the open session, the leaders’ present outlined issues that they felt Muturi administration should address once he assumes office as the fifth President.
Some of the issues raised were quality of education, infrastructure, inflation, cost of farm inputs and lack of guaranted minimum returns for various farm produce.
In his address, Muturi noted that the quality of education in our country was a major concern to the local leaders.
Good education, he observed, is the foundation for a better future, but the sector has faced numerous challenges.
“It’s very unfortunate that there are some parts in this country where learners sit on stones and learn under trees due to classroom shortage. Our teachers have been staging strikes over salary payment. They have accused the government of reneging on its promise to increase their pay. I promised that once elected as the 5th president, I will make sure that we have enough classrooms and our teachers have a better pay as a way to improve the quality of education in our country”.
Equally on other issues raised in Nyeri and other parts of the country, he said he had a ready solution and what he required was to get the mandate of the voters.
The Speaker was accompanied by among others, the Democratic Party of Kenya (DP) chairman Essau Kioni and Deputy Party leader in charge of strategy and Nyeri County senatorial aspirant Wambugu Nyamu.
Like the Speaker, Nyamu outlined various projects he had undertaken for the benefit of Nyeri and Kenyans like agitating for tea and coffee sectors reforms.
He said he had plans of making sure legislation were put in place to address various issues affecting Nyeri.
Also present were Kieni constituency parliamentary aspirant on DP ticket Stephen Kiriungi Muchire who also promised to address ills bedevelling his constituents.
