Participants in the Paralympics are affected by some form of physical or intellectual disabilities. Paralympic athletes embody the highest ideals of humanity โ they challenge the boundaries set by society and aim to develop and maximize their potential as world-class athletes.
Some of the participants of the paralympics are Amputee, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, wheelchair, vision impairment, and others
Currently, Kenya has one paralympic medal (bronze) that was won by Nancy Chelangat Koech, who was guided by his brother Geoffrey Malel Kiplangat, during the race on august 30, 2021, at the Tokyo paralympics games.5 sept 2021.
The kenyan government together with the Paralympics committee, should organize paralympic games competitions in Kenya. This will encourage the physically challenged people to join and compete.
Through competitions, they will be able to choose the best competitors who they can present during the International Paralympics, and this will help increase the chances of winning gold, silver and bronze.
The government should also start organisations and clubs that are associated with paralympics. This will help the physically challenged people to have the morale to join in the clubs and practice their talents. This will help curb the tendency of physically challenged persons, sitting by the road side to beg for some money to feed themselves.
