Thousands of Christians from different denominations yesterday attended the Consecration and Enthronement of Venerable Canon Gerald Mwangi Muriithi as the 3rd Bishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Mt. Kenya West Diocese. The colourful ceremony, presided over by the church head, Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit, took place at St. Peter’s ACK cathedral in Nyeri town. Former deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former cabinet minister Martha Karua led dozens of political leaders who attended the fete. Bishop Muriithi, who, like his predecessor Bishop Kagunda hails from Othaya constituency, will be in charge of the diocese that covers the whole of Nyeri county as well as parts of Laikipia and Meru counties.
