- Technology is inevitable; the world is drastically making job opportunities in the technological space to accommodate every user. Most employers want an employee that cans manoeuvrer with ease in both the digital and analogue platforms.
- Being a degreeor diploma holder, manager or mechanic will soon be in vain if one cannot manage the technological updates. Internet explosion has resulted to the loss of many job opportunities for instance; cashier, security personnel, telephone operators; machines have been automated to perform all these jobs.
- Banks are shifting to mobile banking, the government is also shifting to E- government and schools are adopting the E- learning platforms almost all services can be accessed online to reduce congestion and also keep up with the changing times.
Technology is evolving at a remarkable rate. New innovations and technological advancements are popping up everyday. Thanks to technology, ‘the world has become a smaller place’. The current society, is looking for a person that can withstand the daily advancement of technology, the current employer similarly, is looking for an employee with ICT proficiency. Every sector has been affected and cannot ignore the massive growth of the internet from schools to work stations and home everything has changed drastically.
In the Journalism industry, similar shifts have occurred due to technology, with the development of social media platforms where information dissemination is gaining more popularity .The recently released survey by the MCK shows that the number of people that use social media as their main news source increased from 14% last year. More people are embracing the fruits of technology like TikTok, Twitter, YouTube that are no longer being used for entertainment but also information dissemination.

Technology is inevitable, and millions of people are working tirelessly to make it better everyday. With the dynamic shift from analogue to digital, only the computer-literate will survive. In the current generation, kids are becoming technology gurus at a young age and soon will occupy almost all jobs because of their skills. There are several skills that one can enroll in computer classes or watch tutorials that can be a big life changer to personal and career life. For instance; data analysis, cyber security, digital and social media marketing, technical skills, programming, artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Being proficient in one or several ICT skills is a great booster to everyone regardless of occupation, age or social class. Constant evolution of technology is inevitable, it is up to us to embrace and learn as much as possible about it. Many jobs will soon be absolute because of the use of machines and technology that can perform all task efficiently. Let us equip ourselves with ICT skills.
