Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka publicly rules out joining President Ruto’s administration, reaffirming his commitment to the Ukombozi opposition movement ahead of the August 2027 General Election.

Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka Sunday ruled out joining President William Ruto’s administration, delivering an unambiguous public declaration at Kyumbi Junction along Mombasa Road that will sharpen opposition battle lines ahead of the August 2027 General Election.
“To those who keep asking whether I will join the predator regime — thanks, but no thanks,” Kalonzo told supporters gathered at the roadside rally. “I am not joining the predator regime.”
The remarks, characteristically direct and strategically timed, signal that Kenya’s opposition realignment is hardening into something more durable than political posturing. Kalonzo positioned the Ukombozi movement not as an electoral vehicle but as a governing vision. “Ukombozi is not a slogan,” he said. “It is a promise to every Kenyan who has been left behind.”
His speech touched on corruption, economic hardship and the dignity of ordinary citizens from Kyumbi to Turkana — a deliberate attempt to cast the opposition’s appeal as national rather than regional.
With coalition talks intensifying and the 2027 contest taking shape, Kalonzo’s declaration removes any remaining ambiguity about where he stands — and who he stands against.
