Excitement and eagerness has gripped residents of Meru County as they await the swearing-in fete of their governor-elect Kawira Mwangaza and her Deputy Isaac Mutuma.
Mwangaza and her running mate will be sworn in on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Kinoru stadium.
A spot-check in Meru showed that the talks on the swearing-in were ripe.
At Gakoromone Market traders were gathered in small groups chatting and figuring out how important the swearing in would be to Meru County, with some arguing that they will close their businesses to attend the swearing ceremony.

Kawira Mwangaza floored the incumbent Kiraitu Murungi effectively sending him home after dominating local politics for years.
Mwangaza who used an independent ticket garnered 209,148 votes with Mithika Linturi coming in second with 183,859 votes.
Kiraitu was a distant third with 110,814 votes. Kiraitu vied on his Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) ticket
Mwangaza surpassed all the obstacles that followed her since announcing her interest to run for the gubernatorial seat to win.
Mr Murungi had earlier dismissed Ms Mwangaza bid for governor, arguing that she ‘lacked academic qualifications’.
After she was cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), a resident moved to court to challenge the validity of Ms Mwangaza and her running mate Isaac M’Ethingia’s university degrees. The petition was thrown out in July 2022.
Ms Mwangaza declared her interest in the seat in 2019, but many political pundits were skeptical she would win. Therefore, when, in 2020, she vowed to end Murungi’s illustrious political career in 2022, not many noticed.
