Dr. Patrick Mutai is third County Assembly of Kericho speaker after he was declared a winner following a voting exercise which was held on Tuesday at Assembly chambers.
The speakers seat attracted five contestants namely ACK Chancellor Diocese of Kericho Davis Sang ,Former Bureti legsislature and also 1st Speaker of Kericho County Assembly Japhet Mutai ,Former Kericho CEC Finance Patrick Mutai ,2nd Speaker of Kericho County Asembly Dominic Rono and Hillary Kirui .
Mutai garnered 18 votes in the 1st round ,former speaker Dominic Rono came second with 11 votes,former speaker Japhet Mutai ,Davis Sang and Hillary Kirui tied with 4 votes each respectively.
On the 2nd round Mutai won with 31 votes where Rono took he 2nd position with 16 votes total votes casted was 47 .
The house convened at 9am with the clerk Martin Episu laying on the table two gazette notices listing all the elected 30 ward representative and 17 nominated members of the third assembly.
Administration of an affirmation of oath of office came second as the order of the business.
Mutai who hails from Kipkelion East had driven the finance docket in Kericho County for 10 years since 2013 and lost the Kipkelion East legislative seat in the UDA nomination to Joseph Cherorot in the recent concluded August Elections.
Kericho leaders led by Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has sent congratulations messages to the newly elected speaker and urged him to work closely with the MCAs and the county executive team to deliver to the public.
