Restrain I told you at sixteen,
Aren’t you respectful to your body,
A body that belongs to no teen,
One cannot control over your body,
A girl of substance would have abstained
Didn’t your authority matter,
Aren’t you even ashamed,
You got deceived by flatters,
My child is the luggage now mine,
A girl of substance would have abstained.
Given a note by him,
Him who owns nothing,
Yet your treasure he destroys,
Year’s to year’s warnings were to deaf ears,
A girl of substance would have abstained.
Why! Why! Have greed over a coin,
A coin that buys no bread,
The bread that your family bought,
as brave as lions they hustled for you,
A girl of substance would have abstained.
The ball is now in your court,
Bare me it’s my soul in pain,
For you could have had fought,
But you decided to strain,
A girl of substance would have abstained.
