The final UNI GLOBAL UNION day witnessed crucial resolutions on approaches of safeguarding and firefighting threats bedeviling Union movements globally and in particular the under- perceived cadre of private security officers globally.
Private security officers remain first hand basic frontiers and play a pivotal role in terms of information and intelligence gathering, safeguarding property and life yet they are the least recognised in terms of service delivery in a majority of the countries Africa in particular.
In broadness the UNI-GLOBAL UNION summit deliberated widely on measures and mechanism of shielding the private security industry and workers in general from resistance by irrespective Governments and strategies of country and inter- country engagements to boost up CBA’s and fair working conditions amid the global social – economic challenges.
As Kenya, we bind ourselves to the resolutions of the conference on implementing ILO ratifications/ implementations in the aforementioned Nations, Kenya being amongst and look forward towards engaging the Kenyan government under the tripartite mutual working relationship of Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU – K) and Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) to ensure social justice and rights of private security workers’ are adhered to the latter.
Our demand and clarion call is a paradigm shift from the minimum wage to a research based living wage to cushion workers’ from the current social – economic challenges.
We strongly believe in the continued bilateral relations among UNI GLOBAL UNION affiliate members to spur the needed gains and fight against Anti- racism & Anti- fascism.
