Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja

Worth Noting:
- He however clarified that he said that the national government will fight for the interests of the people from all communities doing genuine businesses in our capital city, Nairobi.
- As the DP, I understand my constitutional duties. I took the oath to defend them and I have not deviated. I will not repeat this again. This is what a well-schooled leader should do.
- As for a section of the leaders from his backyard of Central Kenya, they would interpret this as a plot being hatched to finish their son politically. The bigger picture is to get Gachagua out of the Ruto succession equation. Some alleged a plot to replace him and lobby President Ruto to appoint their ‘tribal kingpin’ as a running mate in 2027.
I have lately been reading stories appearing in a section of the media featuring the public war of words between Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua and Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.
The impression created is that the DP was allegedly playing a tribal card by pushing for the interests of his people who were doing businesses in Nairobi.
We want to tell Gachagua that Nairobi does not belong to Kikuyu alone. All the communities live here and the DP is bound by the constitution to fight for the interests of all of them.
These sentiments were made by Governor Supporters living in Nairobi and thier kin from Western and parts of Nyanza.
Speaking during an interview on iNooro TV a few days later, the DP reiterated he had no apologies to make.

For this reason, they would mount a spirited a campaign in support of their son.
As a political analyst, who resides in Nairobi, and whose ancestral root is in Mathioya, Muranga County, I would observe one thing.
The leaders drawn from Nyeri county and Laikipia county (who had also hailed from Nyeri) are the ones who came out gun blazing in support of DP.
This seems to suggest attempts were being made to divide the Kikuyu community.
My unsolicited advise to the leaders of the Mountain is: Be wary of such machinations.
With 11counties and being highly populated, our region calls the shot as it has the highest number of votes.
We can however lose this bargaining power if we fall into the traps of our political rivals.
If this happen, our people will suffer.
Let us call the spade a spade. By virtue of being the DP, Gachagua is senior most leaders in our region. More importantly, he has proved he has all it takes to fight for the interests of Mount Kenyans.
So, I would urge the central Kenya leaders to rally behind him.
My parting shot is. The people of central Kenya are hardworking and own 70 percent of wealth and properties here in Nairobi.
