All bar owners in Nyeri County will be sensitized on illicit and counterfeit alcoholic products in the next one week.
The Directorate of Alcoholic Drinks Control & Management has organised the multi- agency public education meetings which will guide them on how to detect fake products.
The meetings will involve officers from the National Government including the provincial administration, officers from KRA, KEBS, NACADA, Alcoholic Board members, public health officers, police, enforcement officers, sub county administrators among others.
During the first meeting held at Mweiga NG-CDF Hall, Kieni West,Β the County Alcoholic Drinks Regulation Board director Josephat Wamathai noted that those meetings are vital to arm the bar owners on the recommended brews to sell.
Area DCC Agnes Kaloki said the meetings will also cover the use of drugs and substance.
Others present were area sub county administrator Robert Kang’ethe, ward admins Peter Karaya and Agnes Kiboi among others.
The over 150 bar owners were drawn from the four wards including Gatarakwa, Endarasha – Mwiyogo, Mugunda and Mweiga.
Other meetings will be held in Kieni East, Othaya, Mukurweini, Tetu Mathira East and West sub counties.
