When Shakespeare said ‘if music be the food of love give me sufficient of it’, the young talented dancer took it in a literal sense. Stellinah Atsile Tlhabano who uses her stage name as Stellar Atsile is a creative and a dancer with varied experience in modern and African contemporary, hip hop, afrobeat, and house dance. She has been a dancer for 5 years by profession. The talented young lady originates from Serowe, in Botswana. “I grew up almost everywhere around Botswana as we wouldn’t stay in one place for more than 3 years. I grew up seeing my sister and cousin dance and my family loved watching Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson DVDs so that’s where my passion for dance came from. I was one of those kids that were called to dance for visitors. I just danced casually in talent shows or at home. I was lucky enough to meet other dancers in the industry in 2017 and they would share opportunities with me and that is when I started to dance professionally,” shared the dancer to this publication.

  • The entertainment industry is still growing into acceptance of other forms of art as far as dancing is concerned according to Stellar. She mentioned that there is a vast need for intervention on the market in general as they are still experiencing low payments and delayed payments which affect their growth and exploration of other elements that can help in growing their craft into better versions. Stellar goes on to elaborate that her journey had been a roller coaster ride as she was at times forced to seek a job so to finance some of her dreams of her as a dancer and this on its own sometimes became a stumbling block for her growth and affected the attention sh is supposed to give her craft.
  • The talented dancer mentioned that even though there have been such stumbling blocks, she has never backed down on her journey and continued to work hard.

“I am inspired by international dancers like Izzy Odigie as they are my age mates and are already doing so much. I believe there is soo much we can offer to the world with our moves and not just take from the world.
