Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina alias Mt Kenya during the interview

Othaya constituency Member of Parliament Wambugu Wainaina has attributed his ranking as one of best performing law makers to among other things, prudent use of public resources and consultative approach of investing the same.
Wainaina who is popularly known as Mount Kenya in the area said the reasons why has been able to efficiently use money allocated for public use was adhering to the residents wish and following the best procurement procedures.
Procurement, he said during an interview, remained the main impediment in use of public resources since in most cases; government officials were securing various goods and services at exorbitant prices.
During the recent research, he emerged fifth with 80 per cent performance and was placed on position 5.
Those who did well than him included Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who emerged the best with 92 pet cent, Gabriel Kagombe of Gatundu North became second with 90 per cent with Imenti North’s Rahim Dawood emerging third with 88 per cent while Daniel Karitho of Igembe Central taking the forth position with 85 per cent.
“I have worked for Othaya people even before I was elected. I am a good student of former area MP and third President the late Mwai Kibaki. I know what Othaya people want,” he said, adding, “the most essential things that they require are good roads, water, learning infrastructure and the best health services,”.
Saying that he was very happy with the outcome of the research done by Tifa, the MP said he had come up with a development model that will change the constituency for the better in the next two years.
Other MPs who made to the top 20 included Eric Wamumbi from Mathira, Duncan Maina Mathenge of Nyeri Town, John Kaguchia from Mukurwe-ini and Edwin Mugo who represents Mathioya.
Also in the list was Mary Wamaua of Maragwa, John Kariuki of Ndia and Geoffrey Kariuki from Mbeere North.
