Kenya’s Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano
Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade, and Industry, Rebecca Miano, is set to attend the 2023 G7 Trade Ministers’ Summit in Osaka, Japan. The event will focus on promoting open trade and resilient supply chains. Miano is committed to building strong diplomatic and trade relations with key global players, highlighting Kenya’s role in the African economic landscape. She will also participate in the Japan-Kenya Business Round Table on October 27th, where she will encourage Japanese businesspeople to invest in Kenya. Miano will also highlight Kenya’s efforts to enhance trade partnerships and promote local content production in the automotive industry, with 34 parts already considered for production. She will encourage Japanese investors to establish operations in Kenya, leveraging market access to the East African Community market and the African Continent through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the European Union.

Dr. Anne Kagunda, a lecturer at Moi University, has called for early training of high school teachers and university lecturers on the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). She highlighted the need for early preparation for the transition from the 8-4-4 system to CBC, stating that the transition requires the involvement of parents and stakeholders. Dr. Kagunda also emphasized the need for universities and colleges to retool their lecturers with CBC skills. She also emphasized the need for collaboration, consultation, and cooperation among learners, guardians, and the government to ensure the successful implementation of CBC. Dr. Kagunda also urged parents to give practical assignments and manual work to their children, as they are heading for a long holiday. She also emphasized the importance of parents instilling values in their children, such as saying “thank you,” “I am sorry,” and “excuse me,” to help them learn how to live with others.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has endorsed climate-smart agriculture as a way to improve food security in the country. She visited Kisumu, Kenya, as the UN Secretary General’s special advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development (UNSGSA). She emphasised that climate-smart agriculture would help farmers adddress climate change, drought, and floods, leading to better yields. She called for funding to support farmers and called on the government and other sector players to leverage digital finance platforms to bridge the gap. The Queen praised the penetration of digital financial services in Kenya, which has reached 80% of the population. She urged the focus to shift towards how farmers can benefit from digital financial services to venture into climate-smart agriculture and boost food security. She also visited various projects funded by the UN and the Dutch government in Kisumu, urging for stronger partnerships to unlock more development projects.

County governor Joshua Irungu with Senator John Kinyua, Laikipia Woman Representative Jane Kagiri and Laikipia West Member of Parliament Dr Wachira Karani held a development-oriented meeting with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Karen official residence.

Women of Kiambu County affirms Hon. Gathoni Wamuchomba as their spokesperson and pledges their support for her forthrightness. Speaking during a women confrence organised by Inooro FM in Ndumberi stadium, the bold legislature asked the women if shes right in her recent quest to speak on their behalf . The meeting was also attended by Hon Alice Nganga MP Thika, Ann Wamuratha Women Rep Kiambu and Deputy Governor Kiambu Hon Mary Kirika among orther women leaders.
