Worth Noting:
- My name is Courtney Glover. I started writing poetry in high school. I didn’t start writing professionally until about four years ago.
- As far as myself, l am not sure to be honest. I have not given it much thought. As far as the group goes, l just want to see it thrive and have more members participate in the group’s writing prompts and contests.
- Dark Reflections and Myths Legends and Lore are two of my favorite anthologies. Most of my poems tend to belong to one of those two categories. Dark poetry and poetry based on myths and legends have always been my favorite themes so putting together those two anthologies was very special to me.

Open Skies Poetry is the group to join if you want to read good poetry pieces. In addition as a member, growth is guaranteed as Courtney Glover the brains behind this mandate, now and then calls in submissions for anthologies. Poetry is a craft that connect souls together therefore it needs people such as Courtney who have pledged their unwavering loyalty to seeing its advancement. Since I have taken part in these anthologies headed by Courtney, l know that she works herself to the bone to ensure the project becomes a success. This is important in a leader after all there are bogus anthologies that never see the light of the day. Truth be told, Courtney Glover is a force to be reckoned with in the poetry world taking into consideration all the effort she is putting to propel this gospel to greater heights. Thus below, this is what she had to say in greater detail.
Please tell us your name and how your journey started in poetry?
My name is Courtney Glover. I started writing poetry in high school. I didn’t start writing professionally until about four years ago.
How did the Open Skies Poetry group come to be?
Keith Sparks originally founded the Open Skies Poetry group. I took over him a couple of years ago.
Have you won any major accolades?
Unfortunately, l have never won any major accolades. I have been interviewed by Annette Tarpley for her Passion of Poetry group which was a major highlight for me.
Who is your inspiration?
My inspirations are Edgar Allan Poe, Shel Silverstein and Robert Frost.
Where do you see yourself in the near future as well as that of your poetry group?
As far as myself, I am not sure to be honest. I have not given it much thought. As far as the group goes, I just want to see it thrive and have more members participate in the group’s writing prompts and contests.
What problems have you been facing with regards to publishing anthologies?
Unfortunately, my biggest obstacle in regards to publishing anthologies is that many people still believe that anthologies are some sort of scam and that I am stealing their poetry. Which it’s not and I am not. Everyone who submits work retains the copyright to the collection and the anthologies. Many people also expect free stuff or payment which is not possible right now due to the lack of physical book sales.
Share with us one of your best anthologies you published and what made it special?

How can other poets contribute to your anthologies?
Most of the anthologies are not themed so the best way for poets to contribute is by sending in their submissions for possible inclusion. Right now, l am only doing one group anthology a year as well as the occasional special project anthology to raise money for charity.
Please send in your best pictures and that of the anthologies you have published?
My published group anthologies are Open Skies Poetry Volume 1, Open Skies Poetry Volume 2, The Sacred Feminine Volumes 1-3, Myths Legends and Lore, Dark Reflections and Pearls of Poetry. I am currently working on another special project anthology for charity entitled Somewhere Down the Yellow Brick Road.
Any advice to individuals who would want to venture into poetry?
My advice is to always proofread your work before posting. Proper punctuation, spelling and grammar is extremely important. If you love what you do, never stop writing, no matter what anyone says.
