The Kenya Commercial Bank Foundation has sponsored 13 bright students for the Secondary school education.
Yesterday, Nyeri County governor Mutahi Kahiga received a delegation from the Foundation who dispatched cheques to the beneficiaries.
The full scholarship opportunities include tuition fees, learning materials, transport, and shopping.
The governor noted that through the Public-Public-Private partnership, his administration is committed to collaborating with KCB Bank through initiatives under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which include education scholarships among others.
The Foundation also provides psycho-social support through mentorship opportunities in high school, apprenticeship, and University / tertiary education levels.
The scholarship programme targets 1,000 beneficiaries across all 47 counties with 10 per cent of them being PWDs.
So far various organizations have helped about 200 needy students this year in Nyeri County.
The Kenyan Ministry of Labour and Social Protection is working on operationalizing the Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism (ADR) in labour relations to reduce court cases. Cabinet Secretary Florence Chepng`etich Bore called for collaboration between the ministry and the Employment and Labour Relations Court (ELRC) to develop rules and regulations for ADR. The training of judges of the ELRC in Naivasha aims to equip judges with knowledge on International Labour standards applicable to labour migration, improving national legal instruments and Bilateral Labour Agreements. The training will equip judges to appreciate the International Labour Standards’ contribution to social justice and promote decent work in Kenya. Kenya has ratified 52 ILO Conventions, with 39 already in force. The ministry is also pursuing stakeholder consultation for ratifying more ILO conventions.
Othaya constituency MP Wambugu Wainaina alias Mount Kenya yesterday
held a consultative meeting with the Principals from all day Public Secondary Schools in the area where they deliberated on matters concerning improvement of education across Othaya Constituency.
As he affirmed his commitment to continue supporting education, the MP announced that all day secondary school students will pay only KSh1,000 per term.
He further disclosed that Kagumo, Karuthi, Irindi, Kairuthi and Gitundu Secondary schools will admit form one students without seeking anythimg in fees for the first term.
Those who have already paid their fees will have pushed to cater for the next term’s fee.
The program is being supported by the area NG-CDF.

The government has embraced a multi-faceted approach to revamp the country`s digital economy, through massive investments in infrastructure and policies.
Narok County Commissioner Isaac Masinde has urged landlords in Narok town to keep a record of tenants to combat insecurity. The initiative, initiated following the murder of surveyor Lawrence Nkamasiai, aims to identify notorious criminals living in the town. Masinde has also held meetings with boda boda operators to be vigilant against hiding criminals. He also warned residents against spreading unconfirmed news on social media, warning those who spread fake news of arrest and prosecution in court. He urges anyone with information of insecurity to report to the police or Masinde’s office for necessary action.
