Tough Sentences in the Fight Against Alcohol, Drugs, Substances: Pastor Dorcas Rigathi

Pastor Dorcas Rigathi called for tougher sentences for those who kill through illicit brews, adulterated drinks and drugs, terming them as murderers.
Speaking at Ngorano, in Nyeri County, said the deaths in Kirinyaga and cases of blindness were a crisis leading to the loss of a generation.
“Those killing are murderers, and should be in the cells behind bars,” said Pastor Dorcas.
“In Mount Kenya, we have lost enough men. We have so many widows. It is time to say no, and bring this to an end,”
She committed to stepping up her campaign for the boy child, and advocacy against alcohol, drugs, and substance abuse.
“I will continue to advocate for the boy child even if it means legislating very strong laws, I am willing to mobilise to make sure we are not losing our men,” said Pastor Dorcas.
She has time and again warned the nation that boys and men were the seed carriers, propagating generations, and their deaths were a danger to the future of the nation.
She also urged parents, the church to join efforts with the government and national administration to bring the consumption of illicit brews, second generation drinks, drugs, and other substances to an end.
Present in Ngorano were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga, Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, and Area MCA Erastus Muriuki.
The leaders participated in a meeting for the establishment of the Ngorano Health Village geared towards providing an end-to-end solution to those rehabilitated from alcohol, drugs, and substances through skilling them, sporting activities, TVET training, and agribusiness.
Over the years, many people have died from alcohol related deaths. Others have gone blind, suffered body injuries, diseases, and also become handicapped.
