Legislators drawn from Kirinyaga County have unanimously called for concerted efforts in a bid to nip the menace of alcoholism in the bud. Speaking in solidarity on Saturday during a funeral service of 17 people who died after consuming toxic alcohol, the leader after another expressed their commitment to fighting the menace, regardless of whatever it takes.
The MP’s (Mary Maingi – Mwea), Gachoki Gitari – Kirinyaga Central, Njeri Maina (County MP), Kamau Murango (Senator) – just to mention but a few pledged to throw their weight and full support towards the efforts of His Excellency the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who announced that the Government is hawk-eyed to flush out the perpetrators.
“This cannot continue. We won’t sit and watch another life being lost as a result of consumption of the killer brew. It cannot be business as usual. These senseless deaths in the entire country must stop. It is our resolve to do whatever it takes to end this menace. It is a responsibility that we must fulfill – no matter the consequence. I’m calling upon the clergy to play their role of entrenching values to win this fight,” the MPs noted.
