Majority of Nyeri County leaders who are seeking various political seats met yesterday during a church service.
The leaders, drawn from the political divide converged at AIPCA, Labura Church near Mweiga town, Kieni constituency where they worshipped together in a Sunday service which was presided over by three Archbishops Samson Muthuri, Dr. Julius Njoroge and Fredrick Wang’ombe.
Area Member of Parliament Kanini Kega played host to the leaders, some of whom are seeking same seat but under different sponsorship.
Among those present were Senator Ephraim Maina Kirinyaga who is now eying the gubernatorial seat under Jubilee party, his deputy Elizabeth Muthui, gubernatorial candidate Dr Thuo Mathenge of The New Democrats (TND) and his deputy Mary Gathoni and another gubernatorial candidate Peter Maina Munyiri.
Also present was former area Women Representative Priscilla Nyokabi who is now seeking to be the third Senator under Jubilee party ticket, Ms Jacinta Wahome who The Service Party (TPS) party Women Representative candidate, her Chama Cha Kazi (CCK) candidate Rose Waikundi and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) deputy governor candidate David Kinaniri Warui.
Those who spoke during the service called on Kenyans to embrace peace and conduct peaceful campaigns.
