INTRODUCTION

The works of Gafur Ghulam, who made a worthy contribution to the development of Uzbek literature, have a deep place in the hearts of readers. While reading the writer’s prose works collected in this book, Shum boy, who spent the sweet moments of his childhood in prison, facing the trials of fate, Jora, whose youthful blood is pulsating, will encourage you to think and observe. If we look at the history of this work, it certainly goes back to the writer’s childhood years. Do you remember the fate of the family where Gafur Ghulam was born? He lost his father at the age of nine, and his loving mother at the age of fifteen. He will remain an orphan with his brothers and sisters. Those were the years when the cold breath of war was wandering in our country, and the economic and moral decline was deepening. At such a time, the most difficult times come for orphans left without parents. They need something to eat and make ends meet, but it’s not an easy task. The main character of the story “Shum Bola” is a fourteen-year-old boy who lost his father in such a difficult time.

Discussion and Results

This work, which begins at the large teahouse of Ilhom samovarchi, located at the corner of Kaymaq Bazaar, will not leave out the character of Karavoy, who spent his childhood days in prison, despite his young age. Karavoy acquired “darbadarlik” from a young age. Because, in his own words: “We used to say that one of the joyous pastimes for children was the bazaar, neighborhood, and street crazy.” In those years, there were so many madmen in Tashkent that you can’t count them all: Malla madman, Karim madman, Mairamkhan, Khal parang jip-madman, Tajikhan, Juft kapar, Olim madman, Eshan month, Ovoz madman and others…

Each jinni had its own uniqueness, uniqueness, “sweetness”.

Based on the impressions we get from the work, I believe that we should be grateful for the fact that we live under this peaceful and clear sky, that we can easily get education, wear good clothes and eat what we want, and most importantly, that our loved ones and loving parents are with us.

Summary

In conclusion, we can say that Gafur Ghulam reveals that period full of ignorance and difficulties with the image of a young child. The reader can undoubtedly feel the spirit of this period while reading the work. This work left an indelible mark in everyone’s memory with its variety and full of adventures.
