- Former United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTD) Secretary General Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi on the other hand used the opportunity to drum up support for Ms Karua, urging voters in Mount Kenya region to focus on the future and avoid being politically seduced through lies to make wrong choices.
- “Don’t think about today if you are not fielding a Presidential candidate. Think about tomorrow and this can only happen when Martha Karua is in the picture,” he said.
Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has said that she will remain in Azimio even if she fails to clinch the running mate post.
The party leader who attended the selection panel tasked to pick a running mate for the coalition party candidate Raila Odinga on Monday said that the post she is now eying forย was not her motivation when she first made decision to join that political divide.
“Though speakers here have said that I must be picked as a running mate, I joined Azimio coaltion after a thorough evaluation and full understanding of what the coalition stands but not because I wanted to be picked as a running mate,” she said.
Former Mukurwe-ini MP and Nyeri senatorial seat aspirant on Narc Kenya party ticket vowed to ditch Azimio if his party leader is not picked as Raila’s running mate.
Kabando said that he will have the portrait of Raila Odinga on his campaign materials if Ms Karua is handed the post.

They were speaking in a Nyeri where was addressing hundreds of grassroots and opinion leaders drawn from Nyeri county yesterday.
She stressed on the importance of supporting Raila’s bid saying that better things will happen to the people in the region and the country if he wins during August elections.
Karua also told off Deputy President William Ruto saying that even if he was promised support by Uhuru he should shelf his ambition since it’s normal for politicians to lie and later correct the same through their love for patriotism.
She challenged those opposed to Odinga presidency to give reason for the same instead of hurling abuses to discredit him .
“Those coming here to lies to you should give their reasons why Odinga is not fit. Politicking is not about fighting hence actions and words must be civil,” Karua said.
Meanwhile, Karua urged Azimio coalition members not to continue promoting some political parties at the expense of others, saying that the quality of candidates should reign supreme.
The event was also attended by the Jubilee party Women Representative aspirant Njeri Njoori and Tetu Constituency parliamentary aspirant Martin Lutherking Githigaro.
