Drug addiction is a very misunderstood disease. Oftentimes, we do not understand how or why other people get addicted to drugs. Many of us mistakenly think that “drug addicts” lack good morals, and choose to continue using drugs despite the negative consequences. Some believe that drugs are easy to quit, and that people who are addicted simply lack the willpower or motivation to stop. These views could not be farther from the truth, and are exactly what contribute to the stigma of substance abuse.
Before growing into addiction, most of the youth tend to get used to drugs because of different factors. Some of the factored leading the youth to drug abuse is experimentation, peer pressure, mental health factors, prescriptions and desire to success.
Drug addiction is very for it has severe consequences. Longer-term effects can include heart or lung disease, cancer, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and others.
I would like this to be published in your newspaper to create awareness of drug addiction which may help the youth to get rid of drugs with unreasonable reasons.
Sincerely,
