Four family members have been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for concealing the murder of a 32 year old woman over land dispute in Kisii in 2018.
Catherine Sarange deceased was killed in her house at Jogoo estate in the outcasts of Kisii town and her body went missing for over six months.
Later the body parts were discovered in a sewage line near Kisii High school after through investigations was conducted by security agencies.
Joseph Adogo, Lameck Sakawa,Evans Ongeri and Ronald Ondieki were close relatives to Catherine were arrested in connection to the murder and charged in court.
The court found the for answerable to the murder and were convicted for murder charges contrary to section 203 as read with section 204 of the penal code.
Before she met her death Sarange had filled a land case in court after she was forced to sell her parcel of land,she was threatened and even chased away for some days, then killed a day before attending a hearing case of her land case.
Joseph Adogo, Lameck Sakawa, Evans Ongeri and Ronald Ondieki were linked to the death of Ms Sarange and were arrested days after.
The case became of public interest and attracted twelve witnesses including children of Catherine who were the main witnesses.
The four suspects were charged in court and pleaded not guilty, they were released on a bond of Ksh.500,000 each.

The other children when they came home from school didn’t find their mother, they found blood stains on the floor in the sitting room and some soil covering some of the blood.
One of their house where they used to sleep was locked with two padlocks and when they tried to inquire, the house boy told them to spend the night at the other house where their mother used to sleep.
“At night mum was missing, we went to bed but at night I heard some noise outside, woke up and peeped outside through the window called my other siblings and we watched the four men outside our compound,” said Catherine’s kid.
The kids told the court the moonlight was very clear and they were able to see the four suspects who they were able to identify as close people known to them getting in into the locked house with an empty sack and got out with a full sack and put it in a Toyota probox and hurriedly left.
In the morning the kids peeped through the window on the locked house and saw alot of blood in the bed.
The judge also relayed on the postmortem evidence of saliva and mucus on the Found body parts since the body was very decomposed, the DNA report matched with that of Catharine’s mother identifying that the body which was missing was Catherine’s.
Also the blood sample collected by the police officers at Catharine’s sitting room matched with Catharine’s DNA.
However the body was decomposed to an extent of not indicating the cause of death.
Justice Ougo said circumstantial evidence linked the suspects to the scene of murder and they had a motive to kill.
“Have relayed on the evidence of Catherine’s children on what they said and saw on that morning, the evidence of the children were similar and consistency,” said Justice Ougo.
Justice Ougo said the evidence the children told the court made her conclude the body of Catherine was hidden in the said locked house and the four accused persons took away her body for disposal.
Justice Ougo on her Judgement said there was a foreplay on Catharine’s death, relaying on Act 179 and convict them on a lesser offence, the court will equally relay on Act 202 of the penal code to punish the accused persons.
The children also identified the four people who are their uncle,neighbor, house boy and a community policing man.
“Having considered all the evidence of the children, blood collected and circumstantial evidence, I convict all the four accused persons,” said Justice Ougo.
Justice Ougo sentenced the four suspects to 15 years imprisonment for concealing the murder of Catherine with ill motives.
