Enter. In the history of Uzbek literature, the image of a woman has been one of the main elements representing cultural, social and spiritual values. Different roles, status and rights of women in society are described in literature. In this article, we will study the development of the image of a woman through historical periods and how it has become today.
The image of a woman in classical literature
In classical literature, women are often depicted as symbols of beauty and spiritual excellence. In the epic “Layli and Majnun” by Alisher Navoi, Layli is an ideal example of love and loyalty and expresses the depth of human feelings. Also, in the literature of this period, the activity of women in society is limited, and they are mainly depicted as secondary characters influencing the lives of male heroes.
Also, in Babur’s work “Boburnoma”, one can see the reflection of attention to women in real life. Babur especially mentions the respect and love towards his mother Qutlugh Nigorkhanim, which shows that women were an important support in the family in the classical period.
The image of a woman in the literature of the modern period
At the beginning of the 20th century, female characters appeared in a new form in the works of modern writers. In Cholpon’s novel Night and Day, Zebi is a strong character who strives for freedom and protests against injustice in society.
Although Kumush is portrayed as a loyal and loving woman in Abdulla Qadiri’s novel “O’tkan Kunlar”, the issue of her inner world and individual rights is also important. In Abdullah Avloni’s works, female education is raised as an important issue. Avloni emphasizes that a woman should be enlightened and educated as the basis of the development of the society.
The image of a woman in the literature of the Soviet period
In the literature of the Soviet era, female figures are depicted as active participants in the construction of society, hardworking and fighting individuals. The character of Zainab in Oybek’s novel “Kutlug Qon” is embodied as a woman who fights for social justice in her family and environment.
During this period, the issues of women’s rights, approaches to work and their place in society were widely covered.
In the dramas of Hamza Hakimzada Niazi, the issues of women’s activity in social life and equal rights in the family are highlighted. For example, in the drama “Poisonous Life or Victims of Love”, the ideas of fighting against the oppression of women are put forward.
The image of a woman in the literature of the independence period
In the period of independence, women are depicted in literature as independent, aware of their rights, actively contributing to society. For example, in Tahir Malik’s novel Shaitanat, women are portrayed as heroes who stand up to life’s trials while protecting family values.
In today’s literature, women’s professional activities, personal freedom and inner experiences are widely analyzed.
Tahir Malik’s novel “Shaitanat” shows women fighting for their family and life, with strong will and determination. In this novel, women are heroes who strive to overcome modern problems while protecting family values.
In the works of modern writer Shoyim Botayev, female characters are characterized by human relationships, inner spiritual experiences, and responsibility in society. A woman realizes her freedom and seeks to recognize it in society
Summary
The evolution of the image of a woman in Uzbek literature is inextricably linked with the cultural and social development of society. The image of a woman, which was a symbol of aesthetic and spiritual beauty in the classical period, began to express the ideas of freedom and equality with the passage of time. Today, the image of a woman is multifaceted and complex, reflecting the harmony of national values and modern requirements.
