Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has continued to host leaders and opinion shapers from different parts of the country. Yesterday, at his Wamunyoro residence, Nyeri County, he spent the whole day with Maa leaders from Kajiado and Narok counties. After the meeting, he commended them for their immense knowledge and patriotism for the country. Among the leaders in attendance were Onesmus Ngogoyo (Kajiado North MP), Dr. Daniel Kanchori (Kajiado County), Joshua Olowuasa (Kajado East), Martin Olekamwaro ( Narok North), Moses Birisha (Kajiado Central), James Lesere (Dalalekutuk Ward), Peter Tirishe (Mosiro Ward), Abraham Osoi (Matapato Ward), Ole Esho (Narok Elder), Benson Saayo (Narok Elder) among others.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki yesterday joined President William Ruto and other stakeholders in Mumias, Kakamega County for launch the first ever payment of bonuses to sugarcane farmers where 15,846 farmers drawn from Kakamega, Busia, Bungoma and Siaya Counties received bonuses worth KSh150 million. The DP noted that the Kenya Kwanza administration continues to invest significant resources to transform the key value chains that are critical in the economic transformation of the country and the growth of household incomes. Also present were Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Cabinet Secretaries; Mutahi Kagwe (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development, Principal Secretary (Agriculture) Dr. Paul Rono, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa and other senior National and County Governments leaders were present.
The Principal Secretary for Water and Sanitation Julius Korir, yesterday held a meeting with DANIDA officials on the Thika-Githunguri project which is being undertaken by Athi Water Works Development Agency on behalf the Ministry to implement water and sanitation projects serving the urban areas of Thika and Githunguri to provide safe, reliable, and affordable water and sanitation services. The components in this arrangement include Thika Urban water supply and wastewater services and water supply and wastewater services for Githunguri . The PS revealed that the government was keen to fast track the preliminary funding requirements to ensure the projects kick off before the end of the year.
The Nakuru County government has ramped up surveillance measures to control the spread of Mpox, following ten reported cases since the disease’s outbreak in Kenya. County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health, Ms. Roselyn Mungai, announced that the Public Health Emergency Operation Centre (PHEOC) and Incident Management System (IMS) have been activated to coordinate the county’s response. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Nakuru County has implemented several measures, including contact tracing and enhanced surveillance, to monitor and manage the Mpox situation. Public awareness campaigns are also underway, educating residents on prevention strategies such as isolating infected individuals, using protective gear like surgical masks and gloves, maintaining hand hygiene, and disinfecting contaminated surfaces.
