Nyamira County governor Amos Nyaribo launches the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) party and his gubernatorial bid in the forthcoming general elections as he vows to transform the county and bring more development.
Mr Nyaribo was deputizing the late governor John Nyagarama. He served as the deputy governor for the two terms, and took over as the governor following the demise of Nyagarama.
He decamped Amani National Congress (ANC) to UPA where he is going to defend his gubernatorial seat.
Speaking at Nyamira County during the ceremony, Mr Nyaribo said thatOmogusii as a community has always encouraged togetherness and unity, and for a long time tried to get an outfit that would unite them.

“As the party leader, I convey my heartfelt gratitude to all of you who believe in the United Progressive Alliance and have taken their time to attend this historical event, “he said.
He thanked the senior partners and leaders of this party at the national level who are determined that we must make UPA a national party for all Kenyans.
Mr Nyaribo unveiled The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in the spirit of Kazi ya Haki.
He cited that moving forward through the UPA party, he endeavor to offer solutions to the socio-economic problems facing Nyamira County.
Manifesto
His agenda is anchored on three pillars symbolizing endurance and dependability, good governance, inclusivity, wealth and job Creation.
Mr Nyaribo his aspiration is to create a government of the people, by the people and for the people of Nyamira County.
On the issue of good governance he will establish conflict resolution mechanisms such as negotiation, mediation and arbitration where parties find amicable solutions to disagreements to help reduce time and resources incurred in litigation.
AGRI- BUSINESS:
The national government, the county have set aside 265 acres of land for the integrated agro-industrial park in Sironga, the drawings and designs are already complete done by Mahindra Engineering of India and they expect an advertisement to be done any time for the construction which is mainly aimed for value addition and job creation.
This will make farming profitable with the realization that farmers often use wrong fertilizer; the government will establish soil testing facilities across the county to help farmers apply the right type of fertilizer required for their land and crop. These will double crop production in more than one year.
Milk deficiency in the county due to low quality animal stock, the county government will improve and continue offering subsidize artificial insemination services, outlaw unlicensed breeding bulls and provide milk coolers for storage.
The county government will also improve extension services and set up modern demonstration sites to train farmers on modern technologies like green houses and use of biotechnology.
According to him he will promote high value farming in areas such as poultry, apiculture, aquaculture and horticulture, with a focus on tissue culture banana suckers, avocados, and fruit farming.
Also he will promote and establish agricultural market organizations with a revived co-operative movement for the expansion of agricultural markets, aggregation centers, contract farming and use of ICT technology platforms.
Dr James Gesami is going to deputize Nyaribo.
Among those who are in the race for governorship are Walter Nyambati (UDA) Timothy Bosire (ODM), Ben Momanyi (Wiper).
