Central Region Police Commander Mr. Samuel Ndanyi has launched county-level anti-corruption committees in a renewed effort to combat graft and related criminal activities within the police service.
Speaking during a regional security meeting held at a Murang’a hotel on Wednesday, Ndanyi announced that each of the five counties—Murang’a, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, and Laikipia—will now have a dedicated committee to handle corruption cases involving police officers.
He said the initiative is in line with a directive from the Inspector General of Police aimed at institutionalising accountability, promoting professionalism, and restoring public confidence in the police service.
“These committees will develop practical work plans and strategies to fight corruption within the police ranks,” he stated. “They will also act as watchdogs to ensure transparency and discipline among officers at the county level.”
Ndanyi noted that for now, the committees will consist of officers drawn from within the police service, but members from other government agencies will be incorporated in the future.
“Our target is to have a corruption-free police service as we strive to serve Kenyans professionally and with accountability,” he emphasised.
