Boito Ward representative in Bomet County Assembly Charles Langat (Nyesha) has urged all political leaders from the region to join hands and work in unity in building the nation.
Langat who is one of the only two sitting MCAs in Bomet county to be nominated in the just concluded United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations, asked those who lost in the nominations to remain in the party and focus on the bigger picture which is to fullfil the party’s manifesto.
Charles Langat garnered 3,445 votes against his closest opponent Nathan Kirui (Kimani) who got 2912 votes.
Nyesha said that the elections were conducted in a free and fair manner and those who were nominated earned the trust of the electorates to represent them in the various positions.
The leader promised to bring on board those he beat in the nominations, if they are willing, so as to work together for the betterment of Boito Ward.
“UDA nomination process has shown us that the electorates elect a leader who is hardworking and transparent to represent them. I believe those who choose to fulfill their selfish interests are sent home”, he said.
He explained that he embraced various tactics in his work as the MCA including working closely with the County government, which according to him, enabled him to achieve his manifesto from the year he was elected in 2017.
Langat was seen in the forefront fiercely opposing the famous BBI bill which was rejected by most leaders aligned to the Deputy President William Ruto. This is thought to have earned the MCA respect from the electorates who are pro UDA.
Langat thanked Boito Ward residents in turning out to give him another opportunity to work for them.
Going forward he pledges to align the county’s budget to create job opportunities for the youth from the region, strengthen the ailing health sector, boost farmers’ productivity and empower women.
