Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni yesterday held consultations with the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) President, Dr. Wairimu Njuki, highlighting the vital role of pharmacists as frontline providers in guaranteeing the quality, safety, and accessibility of medicines and health services. During the engagement, the Principal Secretary reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fast-tracking the Quality Health Pharmaceutical Services (QHPS) and Pharmacy Practice Bills, strengthening regulatory standards, and operationalizing the Bioequivalence Hub to accelerate local pharmaceutical manufacturing. She further noted that, in partnership with PSK, the Ministry will advance workforce planning, standardize training and continuous professional development, and expand the leadership of pharmacists in supply chains and public health programmes.

The Samburu government has acquired and installed a new Computerized Tomography Scan (CT scan) machine at the county referral hospital to improve on diagnosis of a wide range of medical conditions. Speaking after receiving the machine from Sunview Medipro Company, the county Chief Officer (CO) for Medical Services Josephat Lenguris said that the new machines’ imagery prowess will help doctors diagnose a wide range of diseases in any part of the human body. He further noted that 11 medical officers including radiographers, biomedical engineers and radiologists have been trained to handle and operate the machine.

The Kenya Tea Development Agency (Holdings) Limited (KTDA) last evening dismissed as false and malicious claims circulating on social media and blogs alleging impropriety within the organisation. In a statement, by its Corporate Communications Department, KTDA said the allegations were baseless and intended to tarnish the reputation of the agency and its management. “The Agency strongly urges stakeholders to ignore the fabricated content and the accounts used to spread the false information,” KTDA said. The organisation, which manages tea for over 650,000 smallholder farmers, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and delivering value under its Farmer First mantra.
