National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has called on journalists covering parliamentary affairs to uphold professionalism, accuracy, and impartiality in their reporting. He spoke during a meeting with officials of the Kenya Parliamentary Journalists Association (KPJA) led by their chairman, Moses Aliwa.

Acting on a tip-off police officers on night patrol in Witemere and Blue Valley areas of Nyeri arrested two suspected drug dealers. The suspects were found in possession of 35 rolls of cannabis, approximately 500 grams of unrolled cannabis, six packets of rolling papers, three matchboxes containing 10 sachets of heroin, and other items. Through sustained, intelligence-led operations, strengthened community partnerships, and enhanced patrol strategies, the National Police Service continues to disrupt criminal networks and ensure that offenders are held to account. The NPS urges members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities promptly to their nearest police station.

A delegation of officers from the Government Delivery Unit (GDU) and stakeholders of the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP), led by GDU Head Sitati Olando (seated, 2nd from left) yesterday paid a courtesy call on Isiolo County Commissioner David Kiprop (3rd from left, taking notes) before embarking on a two-day inspection tour of the project stretch between Isiolo Town, Meru County, and Modogashe Point bordering Garissa County.

Former Cabinet Secretary and Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri yesterday led a Funds Mobilisation exercise in Othaya and Nyeri town constituencies. In Othaya, the exercise was held in Mahiga ward, where the team was hosted by area MP Wambugu Wainaina with 71 grassroots groups of more than 5,000 members being empowered. In Nyeri Town constituency, area MP Duncan Maina Mathenge hosted the leaders in Kiganjo/Mathari ward for a similar event. Also present was Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina. The leaders called on the locals to support President William Ruto’s administration, saying the government was fulfilling the pledges the Head of State made during the electioneering period in 2022. Kiunjuri has been leading such initiatives in different parts of the mountain region, giving out cash to groups and drumming up support for President Ruto’s reelection bid.

Senior Counsel Mohammed Nyaoga has urged insurance brokers to prioritise strategic investments in cybersecurity amid rapid technological transformation. Speaking in Mombasa during the 19th annual conference of the Association of Insurance Brokers of Kenya, Nyaoga highlighted the increasing integration of technology in the insurance sector, noting its potential to enhance efficiency and improve customer satisfaction. The four-day conference, themed “The Future of Insurance: Igniting Innovation, Securing Tomorrow”, brings together over 500 insurance practitioners.
